Countdown to the Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway: 8 Days
Concord, NC— March 5, 2009— The 2009 Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California on March 13-14 will be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws for the first time since 1992. In the nine days leading up to the two-day event that will pay $10,000 to win each night, nine different drivers currently competing with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series that have won at Silver Dollar Speedway will be highlighted in ascending order by the number of career wins they have at the always racy ¼-mile.
The next driver to be featured will be three-time and defending World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz, who has two career wins at Silver Dollar Speedway. The North Dakota native won the 2004 Gold Cup Race of Champions to earn $25,000. That season, he was victorious in the opener of the Gold Cup and followed that up leading all 40 laps of the finale.
Schatz has 15 Top-10 finishes in his career at Silver Dollar Speedway. He heads into the 2009 Mini Gold Cup, which will be his first career start in the annual season opening event at the ¼-mile, atop the World of Outlaws championship standings as he chases his fourth consecutive title and has won three of the first four races of the season. He won three times on ¼-mile tracks last season to lead the World of Outlaws.
