Castrol Canadian Late Model Shootout is in the books
September 26, 2009 - In his 7th night of racing at South Buxton in the 2009 season, Andrew Reaume would win his 6th feature. The night was worth a little as it was the Castrol UMP Late Model Shootout. The event now in it's 5 running, suffered from passport regulations, rainy weather and economic factors that have affected all of us in 2009.
It was a bittersweet victory for Reaume, after a terrifying wreck during hotlaps took his father Brett to the hospital. The throttle stuck going into turn 3 on the elder Reaume's black and yellow No. 77 sending the car through a series of violent barrel rolls and almost onto the nearby road.
19 cars would enter this years event down from last years 38. This years format relied on a pill draw to set the field for heat races. Heat race wins would go to Chris Ross, Justin Robinson and 2009 track champ Dale Glassford.
The Advantage Warehouse UMP Modified Fall Blowout would have 25 modifieds entered, and see the 30 lap feature shortened to 15 after a blinding fog rolled in off nearby Lake Erie making it impossible to see.
