Countdown to the World of Outlaws Return to Las Vegas: 7 Days

Concord, NC— February 19, 2009—The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Thursday, February 26. The series has competed at the half-mile in 11 different seasons dating back to 1996. For 11 consecutive days the events from each of those years will be highlighted in chronological order, continuing today with the series four races at the half-mile in 2000.

Steve Kinser picked up his first win at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the opener of a three-night event on March 2, 2000. He took the lead from Stevie Smith with just two laps remaining to pick up the preliminary feature triumph. Jac Haudenschild was third, with Danny Lasoski fourth and Sammy Swindell fifth. Other current World of Outlaws drivers that competed in the race included Donny Schatz, Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers and Tim Kaeding.

Steve Kinser picked up his second consecutive win in Las Vegas the following night over Swindell on the second preliminary night, which locked the Top-Four finishes into the Dash on the final night. Lasoski was fourth, with Haudenschild sixth and Schatz ninth. Also in action were Dollansky, Saldana, Meyers and Kaeding.

Jac Haudenschild saved the best for last leading just a few hundred feet on the last lap of the finale at Las Vegas on March 4 to edge Stevie Smith for the $20,000 top prize. Swindell was third, with Saldana coming home fourth. Also in action were Dollansky, Lasoski, Schatz, Kinser, Meyers and Kaeding.

The World of Outlaws again wrapped up the season in 2000 at Las Vegas with Sammy Swindell leading the entire distance to pick up the win on the second night after the opener fell to rain. Craig Dollansky was fourth with Jac Haudenschild sixth and Donny Schatz 10th. Also in action were Steve Kinser, Joey Saldana and Kasey Kahne, who now owns the cars driven by Saldana and Dollansky on the World of Outlaws trail. The finale fell to rain as well, turning the preliminary feature into an A-Feature.
